If we are being logical and apply it to our world, this is probably why we have so many record and ‘tales’ of people being able to do magical things. The human race is only as powerful until someone grater appears. So, if magic was removed entirely then we can only become stronger physically. Even then, the power remains strongest by the richest because they have the knowledge to do so. Since the Demon King was defeated and the only thing left are remnants, there is no longer a need or use of having a widespread of powerful beings. Even if the Demon knights come to fight, the human race will eventually dominate them with the power of procreation (a lot of people).
But magic cannot be eradicated even if they kill the mages in their universe. Warriors like Himmel, Stark and Eisen don't use magic and they defeated demons.
Not all humans can be as skilled as them so basically they're just a band of assassins who just want to kill mages for fun or no reason at all. That's why the Priest Shadow Warrior asked why they need to kill Serie. He knew the grave consequences of this mission.
Do you know how people keep their power? They killed other powerful people
Honestly seire is an interesting choice, I imagine the chaos it would cause would be a political mess for the empire along with destabilizing the Continental magic association both in power but also people's trust in the organization's might. Chaos to take advantage of. If frieren is also killed, then all the great mages would be dead, leaving magic to short lifespaned humans. Half of grimoires are in elves language so there would be control on who can decipher those. And they could morph the tales of himmel and other heroes as they see fit with no one to disprove. We see that already happening with flamme being a man now. I wonder if they are actually rn aiming to eradicate magic or put it under human rule? Under human rule, after a few intentionally catastrophes, generations of skepticism, and slow calculated steps to burn written evidence of magic usage, I could see them changing humanity's relation to magic again...
But... What benefit could all of that offer? I'm just curious why go through all this effort to restrict/control/eradicate magic usage? I'm curious of why more than anything
Such a dumb reason to assassinate magic users, esp the great mages. I'm sure that's his own decision to kill these mages or it has been passed down for decades since Frieren has been on the list for like more than 80 years now.
Will they kill all Special Forces of Magic members, too? Also, almost all the people of the Empire are magic users. Other Shadow Warriors use some type of magic, too.
Didn't he think of the consequences if they successfully killed Serie? They will be targeted by both the Continental Magic Assoc and Special Forces of Magic. Ig he's ready to be killed if this is his sole reason.
I hope the Special Forces of Magic and Continental Magic Assoc would work together to eradicate the Shadow Warriors once and for all.
