hey so ive been reading yaoi since i was 13 and now im 21. i recently just had my first kiss and other unholy experiences which i thought only existed online (jk). since ive experienced the stuff ive been reading, i realized its not that super fucking hot ecstatic tearing jerking pee inducing activity i always thought it was. i think it made me lose the spark i once had whenever i read yaoi since it left a lot to one's imagination. anyway just wondering if anyone else felt the same

Yaoi lost its spark for me but not for the same reason as you. I just found something wayyy better and my standards are super high which is something yaoi can’t get up too.

That's normal. Once you know how anal feels like, how sex in general feels like, when you see the scenes in yaoi, they don't hit the same cause you now know it's not as unfamiliar or exciting as it'd portrayed. A kiss or a make out session all of a sudden are nothing but just something that happens. For me, only super hot art, angst, and unusual places/positions/bdsm can somewhat ignite the spark. I'm a dom in my relationship (only during sex) so it's extra fun to read

that is why it is important to separate fiction from reality. and to keep expectations low lmao.

there once was a saying where I come from (a03). "Virgin authors write the best sex scenes". I plan to stay virgin for the exact reason, so sex will always stay a fantasy for me, teehee
