I feel like alexis' villain arc was waaay too abrupt. He was green flags all the way, then suddenly oops, btw, ml absolutely *hates* prophets, to the extent that he will immediately throw out his beloved husband. We needed way more foreshadowing or maybe a proper flashback to whatever the hell his trauma is with fortune tellers.

Then, just as suddenly, he's now gone into obssessive kidnapper mode. We got a *little* bit of his perspective, but it still felt quite rushed to me. I wanted to see more of a downward spiral rather than this sudden dive into crazy

Well, there are some points to consider. Eugene did mention what Alexis was like in his knowledge based on the novel. I remember he ( or was it Alexis’s mother) gave us a brief description of Alexis’s circumstances and though I’m not sure if it was mentioned that Alexis detests prophets, but he doesn’t hold positive feelings toward them.

Also, after the chaos at the trial, not only did the person/s responsible got away but Eugene collapsed, and got told by the viscountess that Eugene was a prophet and continued to say about how the previous prophet ended up and Eugene was safer with him. Although the viscountess meant well, that whole conversation contained sore spots, if not land mines.

Add to that, the person that could give clarity to the situation, aka Eugene, was passed out for 4 months. In the audience’s perspective, we got a time skip. To Alexis, doubts and suspicions were gradually plaguing his mind day and night for months.

Personal opinion: Despite having doubts and suspecting he was just used, he was all the more yandere-ish? because he fell for Eugene, hard. He was the one who courted first after all. So there are some conflicting thoughts like what was shown in the season finale. I actually liked that part. … perhaps all this wouldn’t have snowballed if they just confessed they liked each other. Then again, I would understand if it was less believable in their perspective given their current circumstances.

In short, The system is whack
