I think the memory lost is created to not make it weird since mc is still a kid. That’s one way to make an excuse. I’m not a fan of it tho I truly understand that they have to add that for that reason.
This story made my head ache. It makes my blood boil but at the same time I’m overly satisfied with how it ended especially in terms of his brother. I do wish he’ll be able to notice the weird actions of his brother but the friend contributes most on his change. They can pass as a thing or as a buddy. Tbh they are okay with both. I guess they left us to make our own ending about their relationship (tho for me they are more like a bff).
