Remind me again the difference between political and religious unions?

    I believe religious companions are simply companions, there is a deep level of trust but there is no expectations for them to have children or deeper intimacy. it's on the religious level that they are as platonic but as withstanding as a parents unconditional love. AKA, these two just straight said they're going to share him in union.
    and political is a larger difference that it's probably just for nobles where inheritance, financials, and lineage are of concern.

    they want him as a priest for his aether, pretty sure it was religious companion. else it wouldn't make much sense for why there are separate terms for the two

    + both of them need aether because they're holy knights. they currently have a priest designated, but of a lower rank because they're not true holy knights.
    I thought they were looking for a priest at the party, at the church before they become holy knights as they're becoming holy knights
