I like the flashback chapters

I actually like these backstory chapters. Not only does it help us learn about the past relationship between Theo and the ex, but it helps us understand why Theo is reluctant to fully reject him. In the main story Theo has already broken up with the ex and is trying to completely distance himself, but he can’t completely let go of their shared past. It also helps contextualizes why Theo stayed in an abusive relationship for several years.

Of course I might be proven wrong in future chapters, but so far the author hasn’t romanticized him or his actions. I don’t think these chapters are meant to make us pity gunner.

Based on the three central characters, this manhwa seems like it will be about the cycle of abuse. The ex failed to break it, and repeated abusive patterns his father did. Dylan has a mental illness and lives through destructive cycles (I can’t remember Dylan’s backstory or family life sorry, I’d have to reread). Theo has a successful career, but still can’t achieve his personal goals due to his racist brother and his career faced issues due to the ex.

I think having the ex and theos back story is essential in understanding the current timeline. It will also make it more satisfying once Theo fully cuts him out of his life. Even if the future the ex can grow as a person, he will hopefully stay out of those life
