Right?!
This is why I just can't seem to like this version even tho it tried to fill in the gaps of the novel versions.......
The characterizations of Edith, Killian, and Rize (Author) is what really made the novel story shine....
And another thing that made this an atypical isekai story is that the main villain was primarily brought down by her own actions and delusions rather than a main cast member bringing her down themselves.....
As someone's who's read the original I honestly wouldn't mind changes to the source material if done right. They're trying to flesh things out but they're really fumbling along the way
I liked that the Duke and duchess got a chance to shine but it was at the cost of the ML's character, he's really feeling like a secondary character to his own story. Those scenes with him being one of the people who believed that Edith wasn't guilty was so nice to read after the chapters of her being scared/alone after being tortured (I also liked how her character is portrayed here rather than the novel)
Another thing was nicer in the novel was the reason why the author became the villain, it wasn't cause she was repeating the cycles and then became evil when her favorite character got made fun of - it was cause SHE wanted to live of the life of her favorite character but when she got bored she literally bought other people from her original world to be the villain so she can live in a better fantasy. With the way things are going, how are they gonna handle the side stories?
I really feel like those "Erm, actually the novel was better
