I'm not just talking about this sage tho(tho I do think it's just a cheap excuse by the author) I'm talking about all this authors works, as far as I know, struggle with writing a character that doesn't have the IQ of a five year old. I have never met someone as dumb as them. Teenagers are stupid, yes, but in a different regard.
I'm being contemptuous of the author, not the characters.
