Ikr like I get that trope is popular and authors use it to grab attention but it's so saturated atp that normal r/p with realistic plots are niche asf, I mean I'm not all saint like and pretend i don't enjoy bls that have red flags, but I need the storytelling to actually be interesting and the characters to have more depth than what meets the eye, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD the plot to be the main focus for once rather than the overplayed rape scenes
LITERALLY like this just pisses me off- it's so much easier to write a fluffy realistic plot rather than a toxic out of the ordinary plot. I don't get why authors find it so hard to make it easy for themselves I'm speaking from experience when I say this; authors need to get a fresh perspective if they feel like going down a darker route. It's fine if it's only a bit (because writing an entirely fluffy plot isn't realistic) but if you feel you must, you need to ask yourself these things: is it needed? How far can I go with this? Will doing this in turn affect my mental health? What did other authors do and how did they end up? Pondering on these can help them make a choice better suited to their skillset rather than be a sheep and strain themselves. If they want to include smut, that's fine- it's totally up to them. But if the rape isn't necessary, they shouldn't.
Dude, i hear you. atp I just feel like they're utilizing ppls fetishes and fantasies which is pretty fucked up but nonetheless works, plus i assume it's easier for them to write shockumentary based plots rather than a deliberately constructed intricate stories with engaging characters. Sigh* seriously I feel like any author who intends to write any red flag, gruesome, psychological or thriller needs to read MADK for inspiration along with shit tons of pure Shonen ai and fluff just to balance it out, and maybe learn what the audience want instead of capitalizing on toxic trends.
Sigh* what a waste of good art, I'm not saying the plot doesn't make sense for this genre the author chose, but I hope the next chapters get more creative and adds more depth to their character beyond the "Abused and can’t think for himself bottom and toxic obsessed top" we've read enough of that already so please give us something new please
