Can someone explain the ages to me?

I'm not all caught up but just got to chapter 71 flashbacks and Rutger is still a child but Leoni is an adult (or atleast later teens) when she marries Isaac and when shes going to marry Rutger the women gossiping call her too old but in current timeline they are the same age.. is that a side effect of her essentially creating a new world? Or is it a weird inconsistency?

Tbh, I don't even remember if Leoni and Rutger are the same age. Though, I do think that in the old timeline, maybe Leoni was considered "old" because she'd been married twice before being married to Rutger. Also, as a woman in that era, probably seen as quite old for marriageable age? That's my guess.

Leoni might be slightly older than him but they are both visually children at the same time. It doesnt seem like they're far enough apart for her to look grown while he still looks similar to how he does in current timeline (maybe slightly older)?

Rutger might look so small in original timeline because he was malnourished and abused by his caretaker & siblings

They always where the same age.
Thats just the normal sexism of worlds like that.
Men are never too old to marry but a woman over 25 is considered too old.
Espacially one that was married before.
No mystical stuff just doublestandards of a partiarch.
