Its called Cauliflower ears (I'm pretty sure) and athletes like mma fighters, boxers or even wrestlers can get them from the amount of training they do. So it's actually a really neat detail the author added in :>

Hi! That’s normal, and actually really realistic! Fighters tend to have their ears squeezed on the flor while fighting. So as a responce, a liquid naturally flows in the ears to protect them and make them stronger and harder, as an immune system against constant exposure. It's painful, and letting that liquid in there for a long time make it impossible to remove. (You can check on internet, most fighters have this kind of ears)
