I hate to stereotype the entire asia but somehow every parent is obsessed with grades and ranks and if their child doesn't live up to their expectations, they get violent either through words or physically it feels so weird...

True they always burdened their kids to become successful and they think academic life is everything. And I think the kids who used to be good in study suddenly don't do much progress later are more unlucky (since I'm one of them)

And I'm on my way...I used to be the "gifted kid" and now im coping by reading mangas. Hope we get the will power to start over again. Virtual hugs
