No contraceptive pills are also referred as birth control pills so thats most likely the reason
In the omegaverse, they have two different types of pills, suppressants and birth control. What Victor probably threw away were suppressants which suppress omega heat. I think Yuri has some kind of birth control going on were he doesn't need to swallow the pills but do need the suppressants
