Girl, ive read/watched most vids about Miq's character, like i did about Marika's etc.
I'm sure that Miq means well, but the way he handled things were not okay. Sacrificing Mohg's soul, 'forcing' Radahn to become his consort, and practically forcing all of the land in between to give up their free will to usher in his ideal world is a no-no.
Saint Trina was right about Miq. He was building a prison for himself and throwing away his 'humanity' broke him. By the time we face him there is nothing left of 'Miquella'. Just a hollow deity wanting to achieve godhood.
He meant well, but everything backfired due to his curse.

Girl..... Hmmm.. how do I say this, I'll make it as brief as possible because I don't want to ramble here so bear with me.
I've been a fan of Fromsoft for as long as I can remember and the format of their story-telling was and is never direct. It's always cryptic and up for the players interpretation. There's no direct evidence that Radahn was "forced" by Miquella, all we know that there's a vow that was made; we don't know the details that happened between Miquella and Mohg. Mohg was a murderous, lunatic leader of a blood cult and he always needed an Empyrean to Usher his Age, what's to say that he kidnapped Miquella first but Miquella used his charm as a self-defense and at the same time thought of the perfect opportunity to use his body as a vessel? There's no definite timeline how and when things specifically occurred.
There is also no evidence that Miquella will completely removed the free-will of the inhabitants of the land between. You know the closest evidence we have as to how the people will act under his age of compassion? His 7 followers. The 7 followers STILL have their own free will, only that Miquella removed any sort of violence in their heart, but other than that, they are still their own person. And even then, when his charm broke, most of them remained loyal to Miquella and Ansbach was really the only one who defected and even he didn't hate Miquella and he still respected him despite what Miquella did to Mohg's body. Another point of Miquella intention, Leda, his most loyal follower. Leda was extremely obsessed with Miquella to the point that she killed her own squad mates because she was paranoid that they were not loyal to Miquella. Leda herself said that Miquella's charm prevented her bloodlust from resurfacing but other than that, she's still her own character. People need to stop the narrative that Miquella will completely removed the free-will of those who will be under his Age of Compassion. That's not what the DLC and its characters shown.
Miquella discarding himself of everything that connects to the world basically summarized his character. Miquella NEVER wanted to be a god and perhaps even resented such existence, his base game lore basically told this. Miquella did everything he can to help people while not relying on becoming an a god despite his Empyrean status but everything he did, failed because of his nascency curse. The Eclipse, the Haligtree, his unalloyed gold. All failed. There's only one path for him to take. And that is to sacrifice himself to be a god.
His cut dialogue beautifully summarizes his pain and desperation:
" I hereby swear... To every living being, and every living soul... Now comes the age of our eden... A thousand year voyage guided by compassion... Beginning here, love encompasses all... No living thing will be denied, no deed censured... I am ready. To embrace the whole of it.."
This is why I compare Miquella to Abel. Their similarities doesn't end in the physical aspect. They are both kind. So kind that it becomes their fatal flaw.
... Despite what I said earlier... I still rambled. Sorry for the long comment.

Haha i dont mind the ramble, i love a good discussion XD
But i agree with you on From Software's take that everything is incomplete and its up to the player to decide how they see things. Its the same with Marika. Some see her as a ruthless queen that slaughtered the hornsend and abandoned her followeres and good boi Messmer, while some see her as a victim.
But you must agree with me that the power to charm pretty much everyone is a terrifying power. Its pretty much the same as the indoctrination from Mass Effect. You are forcing someone to love you, adore you. Thats seen from the exploding knights in the haligtree.
Thats why i dont believe in Miq's vision or pretty much all of the endings. They are all flawed. Id rather embrace the flame of frenzy and burn everything to the ground. At least something can grow from the ashes; free from all the so called outer gods and demigods.

Flame of Frenzy. Is the worst ending though because if you choose that ending, life will never restart again. I have dive deeper into the lore of Elden Ring and let's just say, in the simplest of words, The Greater Will represents Order and The Flame Of Frenzy represents chaos, two were split from one great. If we choose pure chaos aka, existence will cease to exist. Why Melina survived, we never know, Fromsoft is extremely vague with some parts of their story-telling.
The thing here is that, we apply our logic, our principle and our values to these gods that's why we see these endings with "flaws" who's to say that our opinion is the right one? Ok now I'm getting philosophical here lol but anyway whether or not the exploding knights at the Haligtree were under Miquella's influence or not we will never know because even after Miquella's disappearance, the downtrodden continues to sought for him and follow him on their own volition (case in point the albinaurcs at consecrated snowfield), this only indicates that Miquella is/was indeed loved by many, charm or no charm.
And Miquella doesn't need to charm me! I'll gladly share him with Radahn lmaoo I wish we can have his ending, too. We had The Dung Eater ending but we were robbed of Miq's ending. Screw you Miyazaki!
By the way, your username is the best boss Fromsoft ever created yaasss!!
Sksksk they look sooo much alike especially when he still had long blonde hair. Both are also pacifist
