I dont think its that way, I feel like he is more receptive bcs he never actually have a comfort person, he had hard times trusting others and had hard times understanding if someone truly love them.
So he felt the need to make distance with most of the people he is "close" with.
So when he realise that someone is actually in love with him, cherish him, and would go out of their way for him, he can't help but to notice their action more and eventually feel comforted and loved and that he can rest easy with them.. and that's when he fall for Gyeol.
