It was more serious than that. Her family bargained for her life. I don’t think readers understand how serious things were. The entire country blamed the Valeztenas for Ines’s actions. That included nobles and commoners. Even in our modern times, if Princess Diana ran away with another man just before her wedding with Prince Charles, it would have been a worldwide scandal and there was sure to be condemnation.
If Ines had ran away with her maid, it would have been far less scandalous. Not to mention, the painter was actually hired by the royal family to paint Ines’s portrait for the wedding so he knew who she was and deliberately gave into his lust and had sex with her when they were literally strangers. He knew she was the crown prince’s fiancée. In the end, the only ‘innocent’ victim of this entire tragedy was the child that died.
why would they make Luciano so hotttttt I feel so conflicted.
i cant look at him, i just remember what he did to ines and her family in that iteration. Her innocent baby, her innocent husband, but he was drawn so..naive? i suppose , in this chapter, its hard to reconcile that this same man did all those things
tho can someone remind me what happend with her baby? i cant rememeber, i just know it died, but didnt Luciano kill the baby?
