Like I don't know— the maid confessed too quickly and the whole thing was solved without trouble or smth. Sounds boring to me, only chapter 15. I like the story.

If you pay close attention, you'll see the mc saying "is this really the reason you stole?"
So it is more probable that there's deeper plotting behind that action and it probably is related to whoever made the "Champer.of Repentance" that way and to the purple auras in those corrupted people
