I dunno maybe bcs I keep reading that I find him somewhat okay especially during MC's birthday scene where he hugs her. There are other neglecting father that are far worse than him that doesn't deserve redemption imo, like Karnon from the villainess wants to live virtuously

I also pushed through simply because I had some spoilers I knew. Also, not that it excused it, but from what I remember, dad didn't want to get attached because females born in the family die young. The moment still hurt though especially with MC hearing and remembering it.

Emperor is trash that's all I see, he makes me not want to read this and that's okay, do not pardon this behavior he is not good father not good person, even with redemption he can't take back words he said easily because he started genuinely loving her, that means she needed to show him she's not useless for him to care and change, she needed to "open his cold heart" and not other way around, absolutely disgusting when you know he loves her mother but his own child? I'm sorry if I sound dramatic but I just don't see appeal in this kind of genre and how common it is, it's giving father complex, daddy issues, it's not toxic romance, enemies to lovers "cold handsome powerful man changes for you" genre but those authors want these elements and they don't care if it's in family settings, does it not scream daddy issues? Why would you want your father to act like dick but change for you otherwise
