Honestly there could be some sort of law that doesn’t allow nobles to kill other nobles in the same region/area/country. Typical store plot either way. The main characters prob will struggle to pinpoint who’s attacking who at the end & will just use their authority over them— I get that authors try to drag a lot of these stories but it gets on my nerves that they just don’t kill them when they have higher a higher status cus yk damn well irl they would’ve been in a dungeon or at the guillotine
