It's a whole other story. In the novel, Ji Ran's death was faked after childbirth (I have concerns how often documents in the hospital are falsified, who would trust anything the doctors say) and Ye Linghan was living for the sole purpose to raise Suisui.
in the manga here Ji Ran gave up and wants to leave his kids :'(
Honestly... I hate the fact they changed the plot so much from the novel, like now the whole manga makes no sense... *SIGH*
