hangyul can see his red string of fate (story is implying everyone has a fated partner) but his was severed and tied to a black string instead (eunhan's)
the debt collector/friend (forgot his name) has a severed red string too, his isn't retied to anything though
Didn't Eunhan cut Hangyul's string and forcefully attach his own? Actually I'm not sure about the cutting part . Either way I don't think any amount of grovelling will make up for that.
