He actually does love her during their first life, he just...didnt realize it yet, he only just realized it after she died. He loves her and he wants to trust her but he is afraid to be betrayed and is afraid to trust the person he unknowingly love.
I want to know if the duke ever gains memories of the past? It seems that he likes her before she dies, so im wondering if at any point he remembers the past?
