In the US, I've heard of ppl purposely putting their kid in bad schools just so they can be valedictorian. Cause some unis offer automatic admission to valedictorians

Oh no this is not really ridiculous, this manhwa author is korean. And in Korea, there are many cases like this. They take grades very seriously. It's like if u fail u die in society. U may think it's ridiculous where ur from but I'd advice you to look around other countries. You'd be surprise to see things in stories aren't just stories. People writing fictional stories often take real life examples more than u think.
My favourite part about this story is how ridiculous it is. Like i can't imagine a whole fucking mafia for something as stupid as high school grades. Like it makes the revenge so much sweeter knowing that the organization that paralyzed Hyunsung in his first run literally only exists cause some stupid rich kids and their parents want to have good grades to go to good universities. Like his revenge is so well deserved.
Like even if that wasn't the goal of the one who put the first hit on him I'd still be seething if i found out the hitman company was started and is used for dumbass reasons like lowering grades.
It's reminding me of another webtoon where the students have full on high tech spy gear just to cheat on exams. Like it's never that serious.
Ppl do cheat for stupid reasons irl though so i honestly can imagine a less brutal version of golden circle existing as ridiculous as it sounds. Like teachers purposely harassing kids emotionally. There's literally cheating buttons and rich ppl claiming their kids are disabled so they can take the SAT at home and then they hire someone else to help them bubble the correct answer. It's genuinely sad how ppl will go to avoid gaining something through hard work.
