He disregarded the prince's order to not involved himself in banquet as a knight. Although he did go as the count but he has no partner, it's obvi he was there to jump if crown prince is in danger (tho it's revealed that crown prince wanted him to come with Esteban)

second is when prince rous proposed to Esteban and Esteban kissed his hand, Mc was ready to go up and confront Esteban and was only halted when Crown prince went up instead, if Mc was faster than crown prince it would have been a bigger issue, and affect the crown prince image

Because outsiders knew Esteban and Crown Prince fued to the throne or not in good terms so if the crown prince knight were to interfere that proposal it will leak to everyone that the knight who is close to the prince is siding to Esteban who is not in good terms
