I wonder where this story wants to go , king is becoming more and more irredeemable as the chapters goes by , and Sir Seo , is still bound by the rules of the olden days ( which can be seen as homophobic by today's standards ) the key difference between this and Painter of the night is 1. Seungho wasn't the king, so the rules that bound him were more relaxed than the king 2. Nakyum always wanted or yearned for a male lover , even before meeting Seungho , that's not the case for Sir Seo, and even after the meeting with the kings , his views of sexuality didn't change. 3. seungho did many heinous things , but never did he ever killed someone whom nakyum considered close Beyonduk nim always talked the talk but never walked the walk. while author nim here is going leaps and bounds, so even the most empathetic reader will question the king's sanity 3. Seungho never killed anyone of the royalty ( except for season 3 , where he has to pay the price for that, ) . here, the king has already slain their most loyal Seo family and a military coup seems more and more imminent
I wonder if author nim wants to go for tragedy or a reincarnation path . still it would be nice to see some development , all this mindless violence is breaking my heart
