I honestly think the author’s goal is to recreate the actual psychos of history and just add some BL-ish obsession tropes. That’s probably why I’m so drawn to this story is that I don’t think that the author is trying to write a love story at all. They want the King to be hate-able af character for a reason.

Through a BL aspect, this shit is DOGSHIT. I mean, there's no love here, that much is obvious. But I feel like the 'top' (I wouldn't call him that honestly), is written so well as a villain. His twisted thoughts and mannerisms are portrayed really well that just makes the user hate that bitch and I think the author did a good job expressing that and bringing that expression out through that man.
If the author thinks this is boys love or anything even close to it, I'm sorry but jail immediately. This is more a psychological horror, I mean we just saw hyungnim being graped, nobody fucking wants that.
