I don’t understand her reaction. War is not pretty. To force the other side to give up one of the main things you target is there food reserves. It was stupid of their king to not have some protection for such an important food resource anyway.

Also her marrying into a general (knight/army) family you would think she would understand some basic things that war is not pretty it’s them or us usually. Knowing you are marrying into a Knight family that protects the kingdoms borders you should mentally prepare yourself to hear some unsavory things. Her saying “he wouldn’t do that,” or “he’s not like that” is weird because everybody has multiple sides too themselves and of course on the frontlines he’s going to show a different side to himself than he does at home with his family. Either way he’ll always be the hero to one side and the cause of fear or hate to another that’s just natural.

I think it depends as there are certain actions some night keep off the table but he readily admit he's done things he don't like. Manh people tend to deny what happans in war if they arent soilders themselvrs and seems this kingdom dont want girls to know current events. And burning a feud isn't that bad? You can aways replant vs saving the enemies lives in stopping the war.

What I don't get is why she's walking so freely with all that hostility around.

Yes I was also wondering why she had basically no guards. Usually in other stories they can’t even go to the salon or market without multiple guards. Her trip back home takes a few days she should have definitely had 10-20 guards.

I agree! Burning a field is actually helpful for plants’ regrowth, although it does take some time to replant whatever crop you need. If the margrave had directed lava onto the field, then I’d understand the upset. Lol

(I’ve now read the recent chapter and realized the bad guys are basically just upset that they had to get a job after being part of the other kingdom’s nobility. (⌒▽⌒))

Couple things 1) Zig was with her in the beginning and he feels like he and Sid are enough. 2) All of his men are guarding the border 3) Clarissa got sick unexpectedly and 4) they were in the Zig’s territory. Taking these 4 things into account, we can assume that Zig, didn’t have the man power to spare (which is not usually the case in most of these types of stories), and figured that they would be fine traveling to and from her parents house. But then Clarissa got sick, which forced them to make an unscheduled stop and he had to keep going. In all honesty though, had Clarissa not been her usual “gotta help everyone” self, she more than likely would have made it home safe. It’s because she was out and about, drawing attention to herself; that she became a target. Not saying that what she did was wrong, it’s just that she should have been a little more conscious of her surroundings/situation
