Yeah..... i share your frustration
But if I think about it, maybe because THEY ARE peasants that's why they don't have the tactical understanding that the Margrave didn't do it purely out of evilnesss, but to win the war faster (lack of proper education & all that)
I can kinda see why they hate him tho. All that hard work raising a farm down the drain + losing their country
Personally, it's MC's answer that ticked me off since it reeks of naivety and goody two shoes
Hopefully, they won't downplay the things ML is willing to do to end the war faster nor play it up as him indirectly saving them from a plague or pest (w/c I have a feeling they will.....)
I DO think even peasants of the farmer kind should know about this war tactic tho.
Farmers would be the only peasants really targetted by the enemy and during those times this is set in, the world wasn't peaceful for long. If at all. So I am certain that they should have had that knowledge or be aware of the fact.
BUT, we are talking mercenaries here. Which are just basic riff raff that hardly are capable of anything but fighting, so they are probably NOT aware of this by family education. BUT Then again they should know this given their job as mercenaries.
So either way, I think it would make more sense if they knew. :/
Oh true, her reaction was honestly disappointing given how realistic she had behaved so far and how normal her thinking was in other moments. Suddenly going all doe-eyed, ditzy shoujo heroine on us wasn't the best writing choice. XD
I think it would make most sense to simply portray it as needed actions for ending the war. Given their king didn't want a ceasefire, this was the only option alongside the margrave's side losing the war.
So they really gotta smarten up or else this'll turn into crap real quick. :/
A plague I COULD see making sense. We don't know if that was maybe part of why the country's are at odds. Because if the field is close to the Margrave's kingdom's border, this WOULD make sense. Because not only do you stop spreading illness to your own crops, you ALSO force capitulation of the obnoxious enemy.
So that could definitely be a good way to go as well, but I think it would be a bit too much given how casual the plot was so far.
BUT we had the incident with the villagers thinking the food poisoning was an illness, so maybe the margrave and other folks thought so too and THAT is why they could involve the idea of stopping a plague. Because as we saw; even the rich folks are idiots in many ways simply because they lack education in those matters.
And as annoying as I would find it, this could be a 'heronine to the rescue' kinda moment for the MC and she helps everybody learn about cleanliness and remedies, etc., insert more basic shoujo plot shennanigans. XD
I DO hope they leave it at basic war tactics, but there are definitely other options for this to go.
So they are salty about the most basic of basic war methods: going for the food supplies. And....that's it?
To explain this for anyone not realizing: In war times it was the most basic way to bend your enemy to comply or give up. Because without food for the citizens, low born AND high born, the pressure was coming from all sides to either capitulate or other options. And they GAVE them the option of ceasefire multiple times. So I'm a little confused why these guys are acting like the margrave is the bad evil meanie when it's literally their king's fault for not accepting AND not shielding such a big source of food supply with all manpower available if they really DO want to keep war going.
These clowns are really stupid. On a really peasant-type level. XD
I originally thought they were salty because someone called them mercanaries. So I figured they wanted to get back at the margrave for now being jobless. But this is much more stupid. Not sure if I like this. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
