Essentially this chapter the market crashes and the ex's mum and SIL have invested lots of money into it including taking loans out to 'make more money' (the girl the ex cheated on w the lawyer tells the mum to do it in an earlier chapter to make money for a house and mum then tells SIL) but due to the crash they lost all their money and are now left with nearly nothing. They didnt check as they were asleep/ had no internet. SIL looks up in a forum where they are discussing always staying up even when you're asleep as the market can crash at any minute. Then runs over to the ex's mums place as she also finds out she has even less money than SIL. We dont know whats cause this crash (probs the ceo's doing).
