Oh for sure agree! Believe me I hold no good feelings for him or defend him. I don’t know if you read the novel but he seemed very aware of Lice’s attitude/behavior and he liked it! I think it’s the same thing in this chapter but because of the translation I’m not 100% sure if he liked Lice being bad or not. Anyway, I agree he should get a harsher punishment but I guess the duke still needs a successor and our wonderful ML deserves his own land to be the great leader he and Edith will become. I’m grateful at least he is no longer successor until he actually earns it and stops his spoiled foolishness.
Despite all the changes to make this adaptation that made it feel so rushed and odd in some spots, I am extremely happy Clit gets a punishment. In the original he did not, and here he does!! It makes me so happy. I know the translation is not great, but it seems like he took for granted his natural skill, which is typical of privileged male leads tbh. Idk what he’s going to do looking for Lice.
I also don’t remember in the novel current Edith talking to another Edith but it has been a while, but regardless of whether it was in the novel or not, I like this idea! I hope OG Edith can get closure here.
