I think sensei got bored and decided to do side characters to keep the story alive while they thought out what to do next but after 10 years...it's better to just discontinue the series and call it a day. The creative process can be hard, I wouldn't be upset if it got dropped. I liked it enough to still enjoy it being incomplete.
