I'm so sad for the king barely meeting his kid, he would've been such a good dad from the beginning. Dang u pirate lady (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
Although I hope the king meets her again or finds someone else. He deserves a family

But she tried to be fair to her child, raising him for the first 8 years, then sending him to his father for 8 years, so that he can decide in which world he wants to live at his coming of age at 16.

Nah, being fair would have been to let him know she was having his kid. I don't know about you but I'd be salty if I missed out on watching my kid grow up.

I never said it was fair to the father.
But on the other hand, she also could have decided to never let him know he had a child at all and rise it all on her own. This shared parenting is a modern thing anyway.
She grew up in this country as a commoner. And commoners were treated as livestock, while illegitimate children were treated even worse. She was somehow able to escape this place and could live in freedom far away.
Just because the king changed the laws and customs because of his adopted commoner illegitimate sister, doesn't mean she has to think this would be a welcoming place for her commoner illegitimate son.

She decided when her child was pretty young to send him to the king when he was older so that never was a fear for her. Either way it wasn't fair for her kid or dad either, she states in a chapter he hadn't met his dad because she wasn't ready to settle down. My point still stands.
