For once in a BL, I don't blame the ML at all in his treatment of the MC, in pup form. (=・ω・=)

But for real, he seems a little too soft for some Elite of the Wolf Clan. I guess it's because we're just so used to seeing how he acts around the MC. It's also curious why the MC's dog form is so puppy like. Adult Maltese, which I'm guessing is what he's designed off of, aren't that tiny. If he's a mutt, he should actually be bigger since most mixed dogs are bigger or longer than their purebreed parents. Likely thinking too hard on this detail though, he's probably just suppose to be cute and it really goes no further than that.

To be honest I might also be reading too hard into it but I recall them mentioning at some point that our puppy is malnourished. I hope in that case we get to see a bigger form eventually

Maybe he’s toy? I don’t remember it ever being specified or not so I might be wrong but
I know regular Maltese definitely are bigger than MC but I recently lost my dog who was a toy Maltese and even though he was 15 everyone who met him initially assumed he was still a puppy cause he was such a tiny lil guy, I don’t remember if the height of ML is ever mentioned but assuming it’s around the same as my brother, his size would match pretty well with a toy Maltese

I'm assuming you mean teacup? And if that's the case, I have bad news. Most "teacup" dogs are the result of unethical treatment. They're usually bred from runts of their litters and malnourished when young to stunt their growth and development. So even if MC was a "teacup", it's still a fact that he was malnourished and neglected as a kid.

If you did mean toy then that's just a dog group that all maltese are a part of, along with chihuahuas, poms, papillons, etc.

No I did not mean teacup, I’m not sure about chihuahua and Pomeranians etc as I’ve never known someone who had one/been that enthralled by them, but Maltese can have quite varying sizes that I suppose it’s more unofficially, at least in my country, they often are assigned as miniature or toy etc, especially when it comes to things like show dogs(my boy was a show dog reject, for various reasons)

It probably sounds stupid, but I myself mostly got into the habit of saying he was “toy” because there were multiple instances- when he was simply referred to as a Maltese- of people all but yelling at me because they deemed him underweight or something along those lines, keeping in mind that I was probably no older than 12 at the time, one day a groomer told me (in slightly ruder fashion) he had to be a toy and I just ran with it for the rest of time lol. He had constant access to food and was spoilt rotten, he was just always a small lil guy.

At his regular groomers the last few years there was another Maltese and she was probably twice the size of my boy, but I know for a fact he was not a teacup as next to one of those HE twice the size of that, yes unlike something like a poodle, Maltese are always small dogs, but they can have variations in their… smallness I guess I’ll call it, even if it’s not quite right saying there’s toy or miniature versions of them

This was probably a way to long of a thing and I’m sorry if anything came across as rude or argumentative it definitely was not my intention it’s just late running on very little sleep and I’m still not in a very good place after losing him, sorry also if I wasn’t entirely making sense idk I’ll just leave it at that and shut up now cause I feel like I’ve also entirely just derailed off the topic of MC and why he’s so smol lol

No, you didn't seem argumentative at all! I didn't realize losing your pup was a recent thing so I'm sorry for your loss. Having to talk about him at length can't be easy, so I'm sorry I made it seem like you had to defend him :( You're right that he might've just been a smol boy, honestly. I don't know why people would feel the need to comment on his size in that way though. Even if a dog's weight is unhealthy, there could be so many reasons as to why — medical condition, age, neglect from previous owners, etc — so people shouldn't have been rude to you about it without knowing anything.

My comment was only directed at "teacup" dogs. Wasn't meant to make you feel bad or imply anything about how you handled your pup personally. If anything, I hope I didn't sound too rude! My tone can read pretty dry online.

That’s good, I always worry about how the way I word things comes across. Thank you for your kind words, it happened earlier this month and I’m still rather lost without him, he truly was my world. In his case, for a time, I think everyone just felt it was their business because his breeder was well known for her show dogs(and notoriously never parted with any of them), to the point where for the first couple years simply taking him for a walk if people came from the show dog scene most of the time they could recognise he came from her, what was I doing with him, how did I manage to get him etc (talk about stranger danger since when do you go up to random kids and their dogs on the street ) I’m still good friends with his (retired) vet, cause he was the only one outside of family/friends who never criticised him and knew him long enough to know his healthy weight etc

Oh, no! You didn’t sound rude, I just wanted to clarify just in case that he wasn’t a teacup, because I know as well just how awful it can be for the dogs general health and well-being even without them having reached that size classification through bad care practices :(
