I think it was the shift between the authors work. BJ Alex (although far from healthy) was definitely not as strong as this and people may have been expecting something similar in terms of how graphic it is. The love interest here looks more aggressive and (because he's a boxer) IS more aggressive. It's also the problem with most works of LGBTQ pairings being highly toxic it's almost impossible to come across a cute and healthy relationship because of how scarce the content is and also the peoe who may be writing it (straight people who do not have the same perspective as someone who isn't) I'm don't have a lot of details on this author other than the other work but it's just the ideas built upon these. There's a lot of videos on YouTube talking about all sorts of things on this topic i think I saw one specificly for Jinx.
