Personally yes.
But be forewarned. It's dark romance
there'll be a lot of toxic characters, red flags, SA, morally grey, and DEEPLY flawed characters.
Should you read it, read w/an open mind and WITHIN THE CONTEXT of the story rather than purely on our morals in the real world.
Other than that, i find this story is wonderfully complex and riveting
(and it's not all dark, esp once you reach the 2nd half of S2 where the chara dev and revelations *really* shine)
So if ever, I suggest reading to at least the end of season 1 or the start of season 2 and hold off heavy judgement before that (if u can stomach it)
In short, YES! ITS SO GOOD
Its my favorite manhwa of all time, honestly. I love this story so much. Its absolutely a story with a heavy plot and a slow romance. The romance doesn’t shine and actually pick up until S2. So if you’re coming here expecting heavy romance in S1, its not really what it is. The plot is incredible, however, I love romance and love stories with lots of fluffy romance, but this is not a story like that because its very focused on building the plot. However, in the most recent raws it is FLUFFY AF!! This story has a very slow burn romance! So so SO WORTH IT THO!!!
ANYWAYS. If there is a way to convince you that this story is fire, is that the author put spoilers in the panels where it has hieroglyphs! I can DM you all the links to the twitter threads with the translation to them!
Characters: I love that every main character is a deeply flawed character. They’re very real emotions and weaknesses that are very real… very human.
My favorite has to be Seth for sure. The author doesn’t excuse his actions, in fact she makes him pay. In fact, Seth has THE most character development in the entire story. He’s stubborn, strong, funny, and very thick skinned. He’s also very hot headed and its because of it and his stubborness that it gets him into trouble. He’s not the weak damsel in distress tho!
Horus is a massive simp. He’s exactly what Seth needs. He’s stubborn and ambitious as well, he’s so sweet with his words. Is a little nieve and that comes with his youthfulness, but he’s very wise in others though. He’s very compationate and never forces Seth to be a certain way and let’s Seth fulfill his responsibilities, but not without being a worry wart, of course.
Isis goes through a rollercoaster to get her character development and the plot around her is insane that I can’t even say much besides the fact that I love her character, without spoiling it! She’s incredible… mmk! She’s also the author’s second favorite character. Lol
There’s SA but it’s not bc of the ML. Okay… only one of the 5 scenes, but there’s a large explanation and he is also a victim to what happened. There is a R15 version and its so much easier to stomach. As i said there is only 5 scenes (31, 42, 43, 94, 95(kinda… i cried mmk!), 120, 121, 122) But think, out of 185+ chapters its only these chapters that are rough. Id say they’re essential for the plot. Except one of them, but I’m not gonna tell you which. Lol
All in all, if you love thick plots and angst… this is the story for you. I don’t do well with angst but I’m surprised i binged 165 chapters in a day, back when it only had that many chapters.
I would say to anyone to give it 45 chapters… if you don’t really appreciate it by then, then… its okay! Its understandable. S1 is angsty with lots of plot buildup. The first half of S2 is hella angsty with not a lot of plot buildup. The second half of S2 is plot building again and mistery.
OH another TW i would say is there is incest… but you have to remember that they are gods. NOT humans. In real Eqyptian and Greek Mythology, incest is very prevalent. The author studied egyptian mythology and did a FANTASTIC job making so many canon things, canon in this story as well. The way she delievers this story is mindblowing!
I know the art isn’t like shiny and beautiful, but even with a matte pallet, the details are incredible. I love how comicy it feels. I don’t mind myself having to scroll scroll scroll to just get view ONE panel. Nope.
There’s so much to say about this story, and I can go on hours and hours on talking about it… yes I’m obsessed… but I hope you’ll give it a try if you’re into these types of stories.
Is this good should I read
