I can retcon the rest in my mind, Chen pissed off that Gi tried to betray him wants to kill him but kind hearted Hae-min doesn’t want to go back, so instead Chen helps the crown prince, they come up with a way to give him enough power to go back to the palace and take the throne and kill Gi once and for all.
Happy ending, the crown prince wishes Hae-min the best in his new life with his new love. And hae-min is just grateful to leave the past behind him for good.
