I will speak here as Doumeki's defense attorney haha. So, he is good at reading Yashiro, but he can't read minds. See how Yashiro reacted on meeting Doumeki after four years. He was cold to him, showed zero happiness in meeting him and even called him “a stray dimwitted brat.” How is Doumeki supposed to see through him? Even when he tried to take Yashiro away from Inami, Yashiro was angry and said Doumeki was not good enough. After Doumeki satisfies Yashiro with his fingers, Yashiro goes do Inami anyway. And later he goes to Kido because [in Doumeki’s eyes] he only wants rough sex and nothing more. Doumeki simply deduced that the only way to be with Yashiro is to act like a typical Yakuza who has no feelings towards him, because only if he is like that Yashiro tolerates him. And yeah, Yashiro gets hard only for Doumeki, but he still hasn't said anything that even suggests he likes Doumeki as a person or that he missed him. I know that Yashiro has reasons to act like that, but it’s important to see also Doumeki’s perspective.
So Doumeki's thought process is, "I tried to go about things my way, but that didn't work, so I guess I'll have to play by your rules"
Doumeki tried before to be kind, passionate, considerate but such courting and touching was alien and frightening for Yashiro. That's why he pushed Doumeki away. Doumeki will do anything to stay by Yashiro's side, so he's adjusted his approach to something Yashiro is more familiar with. But Yashiro's already had a taste of normal romance and can't go back, so it's all very confusing right now. He'll play by Yashiro's rules until he's ready to start playing by his. I don't know if that's the best approach, but going about things like he did 4 years ago could've made Yashiro run away/push him away again. Good thing is Doumeki hasn't fully become a bad guy, but he may not realize how deep he's gotten into the weeds to try to catch up to Yashiro. He might end up losing more than his pinky.
In real life, you can give suvivors of abuse all the words of affirmation, tools to handle their trauma, and total assurance of safety, but that all falls on deaf ears if they're not receptive. If they've had these walls built up for years or decades, they need to be peeled away bit by bit before those things can even reach them. Yashiro I think is almost there.
Dude bfr, I will always defend Doumeki. What is he suppose to think? Yashiro never tells him anything and even lies to him to hurt him and Doumeki believes it. Doumeki has been nothing but patient and as perceptive an he can but he can't read minds and everyone has a limit. He's been hurt too many times and he is not a damn psychologist, he has his own trauma and issues so Idk why people expect him to always put up with Yashiro and forget his own feelings when Yashiro can't do that for him. Being nice and innocent didn't work out for him so what do you expect him to do? he had to change because if stayed the same he wouldn't even be able to reunite with Yashiro after those 4 years, he deserves all the credit for their reunion and Yashiro is lucky Doumeki didn't give up on him because anyone else would have done that and no one would be able to blame them
Same here! Yeah, it's true what you said. The fact is that from Doumeki's perspective, Yashiro didn't give a f_ck about him during last four years (and well, it’s not very different now). Maybe it's a detail, but it breaks my heart that Doumeki is aware that Yashiro even visited Ryuuzaki in prison, but didn’t care enough about Doumeki to look for him T_T Putting it this way, Yashiro treats his f_ck buddies and abusers better than Doumeki.
Then perhaps Doumeki should have given up on Yashiro and not just become another one of those men that screw him at their convenience and this might sound like I'm just mindlessly bashing Doumeki but I say this because Doumeki's presence of morality among the other characters was a fresh breeze before but now that keeps deteriorating all because he chooses to be bound by Yashiro.
Well that obviously is never gonna happen, this is a BL manga and without Doumeki and Yashiro reuniting there wouldn't be a story, it's logical so I don't know what do you expect. And seems like you are reading a different story because Doumeki was never a "moral compass" he has always been a complex character, he cares about Yashiro but he has his own feelings too. Seems like you expect Doumeki to be a character only there to please Yashiro and comfort him but he is his own person and just because Yashiro suffered doesn't mean that he can hurt eveyone around him and they have to accept it as if the other character's feelings didn't matter. Doumeki is still the one who cares the most about Yashiro and the only one who can help him heal, thanks to him Yashiro is making progress but now is time for Yashiro to be honest and fight for Doumeki
I just realized after reading this for the nth time , all thanks to that Inami guy, that Yashiro is still vulnerable to rape/ unwanted sexual interactions, even though he says in the earlier chapters that he can atleast choose his own partners now compared to when he was child...One of the chapters showed that after Yashiro slept with Inami the first time and Doumeki beat the crap out of him afterwards, Inami still ambushed Yashiro and raped him when no one was around. This was one of the times Yashiro actually didn't want it. He just pretends that he has rape fetish and actually wants it because its sort of a coping mechanism, no one can help him or protect him. In the chapters after timeskip, Doumeki thinks Yashiro is sleeping with Inami because he wants to but that's actually not the case. I'm actually disappointed that Doumeki didn't realize this and started treated him like all the other men around Yashiro. Anywho, he really needs a break...
