I can understand where you are coming from. Sometimes endings like that can make you appreciate the happy moments in the manga. Bittersweet. But I also like the side chapters. But I can see how you would feel the side chapters are a bit too lovey dovey considering the trajectory the story had been going. Like them passing away together would have been fitting for the story since it was kind of tragedy based.

This! I personally don't like whiplash tones in a story (well, there are some that's able to pull it off well like Smells like Green Spirit but they're just the few exceptions) it's giving emotional play- the kind where a person treats you like trash and then love bombs you so you stay with them, this story has that vibes because of the side stories, so I completely agree with you that it should have ended tragically because the entire freaking main plot points to that direction and it makes more sense overall; like if you wanna be angsty, don't be a coward and pull that shit to the very end.
Fr this is no better than deus ex machina where everything gets resolved at the end cos of plot armor, the sides are quite foreign vs the original vibe, a happy ending can still be pulled but for originally angsty stories I think retaining the vibe would be better instead of going tragic and then suddenly lovey dovey. But then again, maybe it's just the author caving to what the fans wanted, or maybe they just wanted it themselves coz they felt bad for their characters or something.

Yessss oh god i almost felt like I wrote this comment!
I really wished that the story ends tragically and then we get a heart-wrecking side stories where a big (what if) is shown
Yk, what if all these miseries never happened or what if dooshik had met jooha before pilshit did, and they were a complete normal couple with a comforting story that they grow old together.
You get me? A miserable main story with an absolute cute side story that the characters never suffered
I wanted that REALLY bad but its okay its not like we get everything we want in life.
I feel like the side stories were just wasting time. Im not saying that i hate them. But they feel useless
Wouldnt it be better if the story ended at when they both jumped and like died in each others arm? Tragedy, indeed. But that would make it a better ending
Im not saying they dont desreve happiness. Idk, I feel so confusing feelings about the side stories. I dont like how the story took this turn but i love how it turned out (how jooha gained his memory)
Do i make sense? I am confused myself
