Um… this is the correct way to do breathplay tho??? You squeeze the arteries not the middle of the throat. Cutting the blood supply temporarily stops oxygen from getting to the brain. That’s the point of breath play. It’s actually got nothing to do with restricting breathing itself so the name is kind of misleading. BDSM is inherently dangerous to begin with but doms and sadists are aware of this and learn how far is allowed. Gyum counted down how many seconds jawook could handle before passing out. I’m a part of the BDSM community and breath play is a kink I engage in so I would know. Please stop spreading misinformation and do your research before commenting about what is/isnt proper BDSM practice. It might be harmless for you but some other people might try to do it your way and get hurt. Theres a reason why it’s done the way it is. Also breath play can be safe as long as you stop and allow the brain to get the oxygen it needs between the artery squeezes. You’ll be able to visibly see that someone has enough oxygen to their brain since they will be fully responsive. Breath play feels similar to the way the body reacts to an orgasm IMO so it’s not going to do any permanent damage if done correctly and in moderation.
i also participate in bdsm and this is a kink i have and practice??? breath play at least in my communities means preventing breathing by covering the nose and mouth (air choking) and squeezing the arteries is called blood choking. as you know, its not the cutting off breathing or blood circulation that is dangerous (as in its highly discouraged in the community) but the pressure on the trachea. the manhwa shows him pressing down, not squeezing the sides, which was the part im concerned about. like you said, someone might read that and try it (especially since thats how media usually shows it), which is why i said in my comment to not do it. we have different definitions of breath play but my main point always was to not *press* on the neck so hard you cant get air into your lungs
Even if you meant that you practice suffocation play and not asphyxiation play, you’re still wrong. Asphyxiation play is the globally recognised breath play while suffocation often classifies as extreme breath play. Suffocation play is dangerous as well. Also, choking and asphyxiation play aka breath play is safe as long as you’re not squeezing down on the larynx. You DO press on the NECK but not the THROAT. Those are two different things and you shouldn’t be mixing them up if you practice BDSM. The ex was the one who crushed the larynx. Gyums hand was resting on the throat but was pressing on the carotids. That’s why he used both hands. So he can properly apply even pressure to the arteries with minor if any pressure to the throat. If you practice suffocation play and not asphyxiation play then that’s why you wouldn’t notice that he’s doing it correctly but again, please don’t spread misinformation. If you’re unsure, there’s no shame in asking but to assume someone is doing the play wrong when you don’t even do the play is wrong.
1. i practice both, blood choking more than air choking, which is why its such a big pet peeve of mine. i say press, as in press down directly. i differentiate pressing on the arteries as squeezing, we have different ways of describing things
2. again, in the communities i participate in bdsm in, breath play means restricting breathing. we just have different definitions but that doesnt mean one of us is wrong
3. if he did do it correctly, thats good but if i as someone who does know the correct way to restrict blood flow and restrict air flow couldnt tell the difference, someone who doesnt know the correct way and has been made to think choking means stopping air flow to the lungs by pressing on the throat might think that was the right way to do it. which, again, was the main reason i commented
im still reading this but the whole backstory about the sub having been hospitalized because of incorrect choking made me hopeful that this would have correct breathplay (bc thats a huge pet peeve of mine) AND IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ idk if they discuss it later but please for the love of god do not do breath control on the neck, if the pressure is enough to restrict breathing its already enough to potentially cause damage ;-;
