I don't think so, this is the author paying attention to the construction of characters and illustrating how a lot of abusive stuff starts well at first. Although I have no patience for this so I will let it marinate, I have to give credits to the author for writing about abuse in a serious way instead of just using it cheap.
i appreciate your perspective but imo, this IS cheap. Like we know from them both mentioning how good they had it before and we know the reason as to why they turned out how they did.

This chapter seemed like a filler cause the author doesn't know how to progress the story. I think we all could have guessed they were good until mincheol started piling debt on her. I would rather the author just take a hiatus than...whatever this chapter was
