I think she was talking about how being different makes you a target, still such a stupid reasoning. She shouldn't go making decisions like that for someone else, intruding that much, only for something that's not even her business.
She’s honestly just projecting onto them. She had a miserable life being “different” so she thinks they’re gonna face the same or worse. That’s why she doesn’t support them being together. It doesn’t make any sense. And it’s also extremely annoying cause obviously they know the consequences of them being together? Queer people know what they’ll face. You don’t have to shove it in their face and also cross their boundaries while excusing it as you helping.
