If you struggle to find a BL story without toxicity that feels more like a you problem tbh, it's extremely easy for me to find fluffy BLs to read and except for the webtoon "boyfriends" every single other fluffy BL I've come across is a million times better than this one. As a matter of fact; non-toxic BLs because more and more common and they're significantly more common now than they used to be 10 years ago and are still on the rise. (Which makes me extremely happy to see)
A good plot/premise is worthless if the characters all have the personality of a plastic cup.
Look at Yuri on ice for example, it's plot is the most "bland" a sports anime plot could be as the entire plot is literally just "this one irl sports event but make it anime", it has 0 toxicity and was an absolute phenomena and is to date one of the most beloved queer animes, if not the most beloved queer anime ever.
Why? Because the characters there actually have this this thing called a personality. Because the characters feel alive. Because the characters are very complex and can show, feel and convey a vast variety of emotions.
Something that you don't see in "the hero wants to die" at all.
Making a story with an interesting premise that has 0 toxicity is the bare minimum, not proof of a masterpiece. If I can't expect an author to be able to write fictional characters with PERSONALITIES then what's the point of having a human write it at all? If all that's needed for you to find a story a masterpiece is for it to have an interesting sounding premise and 0 toxicity then it might as well be written by AI.
The only BLs that I've come across that started out meh or bad but became huge gems later on were stories such as "can't think straight" which started out as toxic yaoi but became extremely wholesome fluff after some character development. But those all had in common that the characters had plenty of personality from the get go and just improved thanks to character development, I've never seen a BL start out with bland 1 dimensional characters and make them turn into dynamic characters full of personality later on, if anything I usually experience the opposite where characters tend to turn more and more flat as the story goes on, so excuse me for giving up on BLs with bland characters within 10 chapters after almost 15 YEARS of giving them the benefit of the doubt.
After 15 years of observing that this type of writing doesn't improve even after 100 chapters (or until the end if it finishes before reaching 100 chapters) then yeah no I don't see why I should assume each new one that pops up could finally be the first one where it improves.
Since you struggle on finding non-toxic BLs here's some I'd actually recommend and which I personally would rate 10/10:
Go for it Nakamura, wolf in the house, xxx buddy (perfect buddy), docchi mo docchi, megumi & tsugumi, Yuri on ice, honto yajuu (and pretty much every manga I've read from it's mangaka, kotetsuko Yamamoto), higasa-chan, aoi no naku, don't mess with the puppy, whose baby is it (main couple at least, some side couples are shit and ruin it, also there's one toxic side couple that got introduced after the main plot ended), surge looking for you, my little merman (by gearous), etc.
I'd make a list of fluffy non-toxic manga on mangago if it wasn't for the fact that it's significantly easier to find them in physical bookstores than on manga reading sites... Which is a much better place to fight for fluffy BLs to begin with bc, you know, if you want more of them made then why not vote with your wallet instead of getting mad at pirates rating something lower on a piracy site than you would?

It is a crime to put stories like this under the 9.0 rating like literally what's wrong with it that it's 8.9?! I be seeing mangas with 3 eps with a toxic af seme with lots of fuckin be rated 9.1 and it's rated so low. Unbelievable. I really freaking miss the times when yaoi wasn't such a hot topic for everyone.
