If I remember right he's her actual brother. She talked about him finding the cure in the Novel I don't remember where he's been here the whole time though.
He’s been in the eastern continent for some reason (to study?). Anyways I think he left before she even got sick, and didn’t really know anything about their parents death or her declining health, I guess it’s really far away so it took a while for her letter to reach him?
