Gideon is gonna be the prince reincarnated isn't he? Then, the old Gideon is the new prince working with Iris. It's soooooo obvious. like the reaction to the "your highness" comment, or the fact that he SOMEHOW ended up in her hometown despite that not happening before? He probably killed her in the past life because he didn't want someone else to have killed his lover, and now he comes back as Gideon, and he wants to protect her. Just my guess at chp 22 but we'll see...
Edit: on 24 now, yup def the case, the smile matched up with the prince's smile, he can't use magic Gideon can, opposite in the past, and who would want to rewind time after her death? None other than the prince and potentially her family (It said multiple people were needed so ig her family or maid as well?) Or if it's like multiple people are required (as in sacrifice) then he prob killed Iris and Gideon as sacrifices and his consequence was that body swap.
Spoilers?
