Plus the nurse guy even said that elementary school might be too hard for him which means his age is definitely not the reason why he’s in school now. It’s just that atm, this is the best environment for him to adapt and learn on. If he’d go to uni or work for example, it would be too difficult for him to understand and properly adapt
guys what did you expect he’s a neglected animal who barely speaks their language lacks common sense because of isolation has no previous education and no social skills it only makes sense to put him in school where you work so you could monitor him and help him to blend in and learn to become part of the society
It's not weird that he's going to school it's the relationship between him and the nurse. Surely a parental relationship would be better? Even though they're only 5 years apart the mermaid is practically a child in the body of an adult. It's just odd the relationship is romantic especially because of how mentally underdeveloped the mermaid is. It just feels like the author wanted to do a teacher x student couple but didn't want it to be illegal so changed it up a bit.
People like to bring up his technically legal age and completely ignore the inherent moral wrongness and the power dynamic imbalance of a guardian taking in a dependent with romantic thoughts in mind. I've mentioned this before but it would have been a lot cuter if Panther helped him get situated with a different guardian, and after merman became more accustomed to land society they meet up again.
Yeah this a fluffy story, and I've certainly read worse things, but don't try and dismiss the more fucked areas just to make it more palatable for yourselves. It can be wrong and still be something you find nice to read, that doesn't mean you're wrong for reading it. It's all fiction in the end.
You explained this very well!
Maybe it’s because I’m already a grown adult well in to my 20’s, but I cannot find anything cute or wholesome about their dynamic. Imagining myself being romantically and sexually interested in a barely legal, mentally incapacitated individual makes me feel gross.. Like you said though, it’s just fiction. Everyone has their own likes and preferences. I just worry sometimes that kids reading about relationships like these will think that it’s okay in real life.
thank you people kept telling me I was being too woke??? I'm normally not a particularly woke person but surely finding this weird hasn't got anything to do with being woke at all lol. It's obvious the author has a weird taste for teacher X student dynamics and wants to implement it without it being actually illegal so hey give the mermaid a legal age
He's joining the school? And his love interest is the school nurse? I commented about this a little while ago and no body else thought it was weird but I seriously can't be the only one who thinks this isn't right
