I agree with you. I don't think he did something totally irreversible or damaging that he needs to suffer a lifetime. He did something wrong and he repented, and actually willingly chose to let her go. As you said, that doesn't happen much in other stories.

I think they suffered enough.

Yeah like it was really his sister. Like literally everything that happened to her was due to his sister.

The reason why I personally I’m dissatisfied is because ever since she arrived in that damn mansion she’s been suffering and the male lead knew but he couldn’t be fucking bothered to help her in anyway. Plus what did he do after? He took advantage of her, and got her pregnant. Good for him if he likes her! The only reason he started treating her like he actually loved her is because he realized he didn’t own her or have her. And this stupid girl you would think after going through abuse and abuse, she’d think about herself first for once! But nooooo she left the life of comfort and safety she finally obtain to go back to the man she thought ordered for her to be killed?!! Make it make sense, where is the agony, the angst, the slow burner, the REVENGE?!!

Personal opinions incoming (sorry it's long):

While I respect that he saw she was happy and decided to put her feeling first in that moment, it's almost like "too little, too late". He saw she was suffering, knew he could give her a better life, and didn't even bother to present that option to her even though he could have for her sake, and the sake of the child. And that is sort of my feeling about their whole relationship. Is that he has watched her suffer for YEARS at the hands of his aggressive, hostile, and psychopathic sister and has not bothered assist her in any way even though he has the ability to do so. This doesn't just mean her, he had the ability to help his sister, by showing her ANY sort of familial affection which is what she is struggling with (and he knows she struggles with it). As well as the other maids, who also suffer under his sister. (to be clear, I'm not saying it would stop his sister's behavior entirely but it may have caused it to lessen.) He seems to completely forget about fl as an object of actual affection/love after he returns from school, until he realizes that he can use her for sex. And I WAS going to write "use her as a friend with benefits" but they're not even that. Because they are not in the same social class and even if she had wanted to refuse she would not really have been able to because of his social status.
Once again, I'm happy he considered her feelings for once, but his feelings for her, in my view, read more like a kid who has just seen a toy they outgrew and discarded being played with happily by another child. He's not actually attached to her, it's the realization that he wasn't as central to her existence as he wanted to be and that she could still survive without him.

I mean, when she ran away, I’m sure she didn’t want to see him so there’s no reason for him to present that option. She was happy outside too. Although it’s true that he could’ve given his sister familial love and stuff, that’s a separate issue. That’s something him and his sister should’ve fixed, it had nothing to do with the mc. At the end of the day, all his sister’s actions was his sister’s actions, not his. It shouldn’t be associated with his. She was bought to be his sister’s toy so i get it. Both why it wasn’t stopped and why the mc was ok w it. Idk, i was reading it in their mindset, like in that point and time. They not viewing it as us like “this is not how you treat people”. Like she thought how she was nothing much, which is why she said she’ll miss her too when she left. I also got how he wasn’t there to stop his sister every time bc like they did view that as normal, and she was bought to be an emotional release for her. However, whenever she was around him, he did always hide her from him when they were kids.
Also, I don’t think he was just using her for sex. They both did like each other and wanted to do the tango. He just wanted to use the fact that it could divert everyone’s attention from realizing that his sister is another man’s child to not admit his feelings.
And the last part, i do think that did play a role in his actions, if that was completely it, he wouldn’t have just let her enjoy herself when she ran away and would’ve eventually reached out to her before she was welcomed in the palace.

Well that was my pov, i think i just think this way bc i was reading everything in their mindset, which i get. Very frustrating yeah, but i get it, and i’m glad it all worked out in the end.
