I'm just guessing, but is that the sister? Is he thinking that they got her to do that so obviously (the looking at the camera too) to get him to get away from the south agents or is he falling for a trap OR BOTH
At least the being agents justifies not communicating but this comic handles that so well that him disappearing feels so much more jarring. I love it.
