Basically there’s a pattern I noticed in a lot of BLs, that pattern being the rape/sa being out of character. Sometimes when the author can’t think of a good way to add conflict they just think it’s a good idea to add random sa. Usually in those cases the story can stay more or less the same if you remove it and since I’m reading on an illegal website anyway I chose to ignore it. An example of when the rape/sa isn’t in character and can be removed from the story is surprisingly in roses and champagne, in this case the rape was used as a very bad way to show Caesar’s desperation and need for love. Therefore it’s the author’s fault and not the character’s. There are still cases of it fully just being the ml being a shit person like zhenya in Codename Anastasia (that manhwa was absolute dog water I’m never going near it again)

Ngl I think if the author wanted to present him as a bad person trying to be better then just harshness and being extremely cold to sejin would’ve done the trick. There are a few specific things he said during the rape as well but you can easily keep those without the rape itself. If it was just the divorce thing he wouldn’t be as bad a person, another alternative would be financially ruining sejin’s family.
It’s so rare to see a comment section (or wtv you call them here) actually have good opinions that are still different about a manhwa. Tbh I’m still very very split on ido, sejin freaking out rn is obviously a trauma response and ido being secretive isn’t helping at all. Personally I think the whole thing that happened in the past life is the author’s mistake and not the character’s (I can elaborate on this) but ido not communicating with sejin properly is like the one thing that’s holding me back from not disliking him anymore
