I...don't really like the ending. With the beautiful story telling from the previous chapters, the ending felt too rushed and the ML chosen for our MC felt like it came out of the blue?? I'm team Ellisa so it doesn't matter which ML gets to be with her, but implying that she'll be with the Marquis is so...surprising, honestly. It didn't feel like she had any form of chemistry with him, and they didn't stand on equal ground except for his first appearance and when Undine asked him for help when MC passed out. That's it. But she had a PLETHORA of scenes with Sir Rohan, his feelings developed gradually, and he literally saved her life countless times. I'm not on his side, but his relationship with her was just so much more fleshed out and believable. So it came as a HUGE surprise that the Marquis was the final ML??? And they just...tossed Rohan aside like some afterthought. Seriously.
But I get it, Sir Rohan couldn't dedicate himself wholly to her, and as much as he liked her, he valued his duty/loyalty to the emperor first. But isn't that a hallmark of a virtuous man worthy of MC?? Not to mention, he was the father figure of Leon!!! THAT'S not something you can easily replace.
So while I get the setup for him, it really doesn't make sense to me that: 1.) Asensio's apparently hunting him down to be killed as a traitor. 2.) He never made contact with MC or Leon before he left (maybe for their own sake? Idk) 3.) That the author sacrificed thus character for NO good reason, risking Leon's development because of the loss of a father figure, tainting his name, forcing a somewhat innocent man to become a fugitive, providing NO further context to his future, and not giving him any chance at closure with MC and the royals.
Like, damn. I know I sound like a Rohan fan, but I'm not. I'm rly just not satisfied with the ending
And like, what happened to the elementals? She said she borrowed their power for the fight with Ignis/Leon, but are they with her now? Or were they only present for the coronation? What about Prince Ismael's elemental? Didn't he approach MC because he needed help??? What help did he need? Did he get the help he needed? I mean, he did prepare a portal for her.
What about George and Jillian? The 1st empress consort? Countess Barain who was said to still be alive?
Idk man there are like so many things left to discuss, so many mysteries left unsolved, and I feel like the author doesn't treat their characters well. Sigh. I hope we have an epilogue or side stories because this ending feels so rushed and...dare I say, not well thought of. And I say that because the entire series, except for the ending, has been PHENOMENAL.BI was hoping for a just ending, and I hope the creators can deliver that.
