tbf the one i read is on going but im not sticking around it to the end, until chapter 40 he has shown himself to be unrepentant killer, brutally chopping off everyone that so much as annoys him. he has no regards for mc's feelings, repeatedly raping him despite pleas and curses. its 100% sexual connection he seeks he has no wish to learn of mc's identity or backstory. if the author made a sudden turn to 'change' him at the end to become a proper love interest it would be laughable

Idk they said that no she doesn’t make him do a sudden switch he accepts all the terrible things he does to the mc and when the poison starts to work and the ml is ab to die the mc wants to save him but the ml tells him not to and passes out mc saves him anyway but thinks it doesn’t work some stuff happens he moves out the palace and ends up living with the brother somehow idk if this is correct because i skimmed but the ml comes back trying to with the mc and apologizes repeatedly even willing to die for his happiness they said

it is still a sudden switch because he still treated him terribly and he gives no indication that he cares for the mc beyond the obsession he has with them having sex. steel under silk does it better, this mc is just very unstable. its like the jinx guy with 10x more murderous intent trapped in historical place

True but hey personally I went in to the story expecting this sometimes you have to close ur brain these stories lack substance and authors love the rape portrayal unfortunately but in a sucker for a redemption arc I fear

true enough true enough im a sucker for redemption arc too. but sometimes they dont dish it out enough the way they make the mc suffered for 80% of the story recent example is unfinished business which is just.. enraging. at least let the rapist bastards works for it instead of being handed their stockholm sydrome victim slash lover on silver platter. for a good one i'd recommend codename anastasia novel, the manhwa is still on going where zhenya is his most assholish behavior but boy did he suffer in volume 2 lol

I think he's trying.. it pales in comparison to what he's done (will do) obviously. He's an unfeeling, psychopathic genocidal maniac. But he's trying for the sake of the mc. He is making the choice to try to be better by cp40 of the novel. It's crumbs I know. It just fulfills the 'I'm so special he'll change for me' trope to the absolute nth degree. What more could be done with a ml who behaves this way. A full change to fluff wouldn't make sense. But I do think there's some change by the end.
